Viral: Part 62 - Dual Citizenship

In today's sermon we will see the challenging interplay between Paul's two citizenships. As a son of Abraham and a member of the Jewish nation, he is being evaluated by the religious leaders of his own country. As a citizen of Rome he finds some protection from an angry Jewish mob but to secure that protection he must come under Roman law as a prisoner. His life is protected and his freedom is lost. In all of this we are reminded that we, as sons of God and co-heirs with Christ are also dual citizens: citizens of our nation and citizens of heaven. We too face a delicate and conflicted battle between these two loyalties and sets of expectations. We will also see that the Jews were triggered by the word "Gentiles" and ultimately triggered by the name of Jesus as well. We too operate in a world where many are triggered by the name of Jesus because God's moral law does not easily align with our increasingly permissive and immoral culture.
